SERVICES

Evaluations - - We evaluate your child's homeschool progress and assist you in complying with the PA Homeschool law.  We offer several options in scheduling evaluations which include progress appointments every nine to twelve weeks, mid-year  or at the end of the school year. We also offer phone evaluations with portfolio drop-off.  The interview process with your child will be as informal as possible.  It is an opportunity for your child to share their learning experiences.  We enjoy talking with each child about their portfolio!  Each interview and portfolio review should take no more than one hour.

For each evaluation, we ask that the parent include a short summary of each subject taught noting the child's highlights and accomplishments and bring this to your evaluation meeting.  The evaluation is a summary of the student's portfolio, records and materials, as well as my review of the student's progress toward meeting their educational objectives. Students must show evidence in each major subject area of progression through material of increasing complexity

Curriculum Planning - -  We can also assist parents in designing their homeschool program as well as supervising the programs of special needs students. The curriculum planning process includes designing, writing educational objectives, help choosing an individualized curriculum, and program implementation.

Testing-- We can administer the following tests which are required in PA in grades 3, 5 and 8:  IOWA Test of Basic Skills and CAT5 (California Achievement Test fifth edition).  We also administer and evaluate the following individualized achievement test Woodcock Johnson III Tests of Achievement.

Portfolio Assistance -- Each portfolio should contain samples of work or material demonstrating the child's progress throughout the year, and reflect careful thought and planning.  It should be neatly organized according to subject area with a list of materials used at the beginning of each section.  We have found that, although not required by law, school officials often need to be assured socialization is being addressed.  Anything that reflects group activities outside the home i.e., sports, field trips, co-op classes, etc. should be noted.  We are glad to give guidance in putting together a portfolio, but just as each child is an individual,  portfolios be varied and individualized.  Make this a treasured project to enjoy looking through again throughout the years!

 High School Options--

Diplomas-- A member evaluator of several diploma agencies we can assist your child through the often confusing process of getting a diploma that is approved by the PA. Department of Education.  We can help design a program that meets the particular specifications of each agency and help file all required documents and forms.

High School Seniors-- We can also help with the college preparation process from supplying high school transcripts, writing letters of recommendation to college applications.
